Image Alt Text Feature Image

Alt text tags are important for accessibility and SEO, and they can help you improve your website’s ranking in search results.

Alt text is a brief description of an image that is displayed to users who cannot see the image, such as those who are blind or have low vision. It is also used by search engines to index and rank images.

There are several benefits to adding alt text to images in WordPress:

  • Accessibility: Alt text allows users with visual impairments to understand the content of images on your website.
  • SEO: Alt text can help your website rank higher in search results for relevant keywords.
  • Usability: Alt text can provide additional information about images, which can be helpful to all users.

Let\’s explore how to add alt text to images in WordPress.

Step 1: Log in to your WordPress admin dashboard

Step 2: Go to the WordPress dashboard

Go to the WordPress dashboard and navigate to the post or page where you want to add the image with alt text or create a new post/page.

Step 3: Locate the media

Click “Media” and select “Add new” – this will open the WordPress media uploader.

In the media uploader, you can either upload a new image or select an existing one from your media library. Choose the image you want to add and click on the “Insert into post” or “Insert into page” button.

Finally, once the image is inserted into your post/page, you will see it displayed in the visual editor.

Step 4: Add Alt text

To do that, click on the image to select it. The alt text field will appear, where you can enter a brief description of the image.

Write a concise and descriptive alt text that accurately describes the content or purpose of the image.

The alt text should be relevant to the image and provide useful information to users who cannot see the image. After adding the alt text, it will save automatically.

It’s important to note that adding alt text to your images is not only beneficial for accessibility but also for search engine optimization (SEO).

Alt text helps search engines understand the content of your images and can improve your website’s visibility in search results.

Remember to always use alt text that accurately describes the image and its purpose. Avoid keyword stuffing or using generic phrases.
